Call for Special Issue Proposals for Leisure Studies
The Managing Editors of Leisure Studies welcome proposals from appropriately qualified colleagues wishing to express an interest in editing a special issue of the journal which makes an original and significant contribution to knowledge in leisure studies. We welcome proposals which address any topic which advances the theoretical, empirical and conceptual knowledge bases of leisure studies, but would particularly encourage proposals which address:
- Digital and online leisure
- Home-based and indoor leisure
- Out-of-home leisure
- Leisure, work and precarious (un)employment
- Leisure and inequalities
- Leisure and health
Colleagues wishing to propose a Special Issue should submit an outline of up to 1,000 words which summarises the key aims and proposed theme(s) to be explored, how the issue will build upon work published previously in the journal and field more widely, and topics on which papers would be sought. A short CV (no more than 2 pages) for each editor outlining their expertise, relevant publications and editorial experience should also be submitted.
Shortlisted proposals will be considered by the Managing Editors and Leisure Studies Editorial Board in January 2021, with outcomes communicated as soon as possible thereafter. It is anticipated that the selected special issues will be published between 2022 and 2024 by agreement with the Guest Editors.
