CALL FOR PAPERS - Special issue of the journal Tourism Recreation Research titled " Health-Oriented Tourism: Emerging Trends, Challenges and Opportunities"

We are thrilled to announce the launch of a special issue titled "Health-Oriented Tourism: Emerging Trends, Challenges and Opportunities”. This issue is being featured in the Tourism Recreation Research (TRR), a highly regarded platform for academic discourse and advancement in our industry.

Health-oriented tourism has gained much attention lately and has given a lot to people from all sections of society. Health-oriented tourism is a broad concept that covers various dimensions of spa tourism, wellness and wellbeing tourism, medical tourism, and the significance of yoga and ayurveda related to health-oriented tourism at all levels of prevention.

This special issue intends to raise awareness about health-oriented tourism, including its principles, products, dimensions, and practices that aim towards achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Whether you are an expert in empirical research, theoretical analysis, case-based research, or insightful commentary, your submission can help shape the understanding of health-oriented tourism. We are especially interested in diverse perspectives addressing the multifaceted challenges and opportunities of health-oriented tourism.

Key Submission Details:

An abstract (300 words excluding references) is welcome by April 30, 2024, to be sent to the SI guest editor, Ranjana Tiwari (This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. ).  Abstracts should also include the title, author(s) & affiliation(s), contact information (including the email addresses of all authors) and keywords (maximum six). 

Key Dates -

  • Submission of abstracts: April 30, 2024
  • Notification of abstract acceptance: May 31, 2024
  • Submission of full papers: August 31, 2024
  • Peer review reports: October 30, 2025
  • Authors to revise and resubmit based on peer review reports: December 15 , 2024

All full papers submitted will be subject to the normal peer review processes of the Tourism Recreation Research. Contributions are welcome from researchers and practitioners from around the world. Contributors should follow the journal’s “Instructions for Authors”.
