Social Responsibility in Hospitality and Tourism: Bridging Education and Practice Transitions
This edited volume, Social Responsibility in Hospitality and Tourism: Bridging Education and Practice Transitions, aims to address the critical gap between hospitality and tourism education and industry practice in the realm of social responsibility. Central to this book is the question: How can the principles of social responsibility taught in academic settings be effectively translated into actionable and sustainable practices within the tourism industry?
By exploring innovative approaches, empirical studies, case studies, and strategies, the book seeks to bridge the divide between theory and practice, fostering ethical, sustainable, and accountable tourism. It examines themes such as integrating social responsibility into education, the role of certification, the impacts of CSR initiatives, and stakeholder accountability. Ultimately, the volume provides actionable insights for educators, industry professionals, and policymakers, aligning tourism education with real-world applications to advance sustainability and shared prosperity in the sector.
Chapters proposed are explored in eight thematic areas as highlighted below.
