Abstract Submission

An abstract between 300 to 500 words (excluding references) should be submitted to be presented at one of the sessions below. The sessions will cover the following topics: 

  1. “Thanatourism is a quickly growing and developing tourism product”, chaired by Lóránt Dénes Dávid.
  2. “Tourism and regional revitalisation using automated vehicles”, chaired by Takashi Hikasa.
  3. “Tourism to build a better future for both human and non-human beings”, chaired by Megumi Doshita.
  4. “Conversing differences: The power and paradoxes of criticality and tourism”, chaired by Jasmine Zhang, Hazel Tucker and Rukeya Suleman.
  5. “Tourism labour rights: Ongoing challenges and future pathways”, chaired by Anke Winchenbach, Adele Ladkin, Tom Baum, Richard Robinson, David Williamson, Kumi Kato, Shelagh Mooney and Tara Duncan.
  6. “Unlearning the normative servicescapes through critical queer theory: An inclusive service design workshop”, chaired by Bella Thanakarn Vongvisitsin, Antony King Fung Wong, Brenda Rodriguez Alegre, Po Man Tse, Monika Bozic.
  7. “Art tourism and human rights”, chaired by Natasha Slak Valek.
  8. “Social inclusion and exclusion in tourism”, chaired by Michelle Russena and Huy (Robert) Gip.
  9. “Critical tourism studies in Japan: Criticality, politics and ethics in a rapidly transforming tourism landscape”, chaired by Riichi Endo.
  10. “The impact of orphanage tourism and kinship care disruptions on children's rights”, chaired by Rodney Westerlaken.
  11. “Exploring work conditions in tourism: An international comparative perspective”, chaired by Christophe Guibert and Bertrand Réau.
  12. “ Human and nature relations” chaired by Chution Savini. 
  13. “The complex world of sex tourism and its impacts on society”, chaired by Wantanee Suntikul and Stephen Pratt.
  14. “Open session focussing on human rights issues in tourism at the global level”, chaired by Erdinç Çakmak and Rami K. Isaac.
