The Research Centre for Tourism, Sustainability and Well-being (CinTurs) invites contributions for the special issue "Short-Term Rentals: Impacts on Tourism and Communities" of its JTSW - Journal for Tourism, Sustainability and Well-being (Clarivate - Emerging Sources Citation Index, Q3).
The issue seeks to advance a scholarly understanding of the dynamics surrounding short-term rentals (STRs) in diverse tourism territories. The aim is to identify sustainable practices across different territorial contexts and assess their impacts on communities, stakeholders, and emerging tourism trends. STRs continue to reshape the tourism landscape and bring opportunities and challenges for destinations and local communities. Research contributions are encouraged to examine how STRs influence sustainable development, stakeholder collaboration, and community well-being while addressing pressing issues such as environmental impact, housing availability, and cultural preservation.
Potential manuscripts for this special issue may include, but are not limited to, the following topics:
- Sustainability and Environmental Practices in STRs
- Impact of STRs on Local Communities
- Regulation, Policy, and Legal Considerations
- Stakeholder Dynamics and Collaboration
- Digital platforms and advancements in the STR ecosystem
- Economic and Housing Implications
- Cultural and Heritage Preservation
- Destination Management and Competitiveness
- Future Trends and Challenges in STR operations and practices
- Case Studies and Practical Applications
